Speaking on the sidelines of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, Kajwang said the five-year programme, launched in 2022 and implemented through county governments, has provided a practical approach to addressing climate challenges at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kajwang noted that local communities continue to experience the effects of climate change through droughts, floods and declining agricultural productivity. He said implementing the programme through county governments was the right decision since devolved units are directly involved in responding to climate-related challenges affecting communities. The programme has also enabled communities to identify and prioritise projects aimed at reducing the impact of climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Senator said Senate oversight had established that FLLoCA has achieved tangible results, particularly among rural communities. He noted that the programme has strengthened local participation in climate action by supporting projects designed around the specific needs of communities.
