Political parties registrar approves Linda Mwananchi Movement Party name change

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has begun the formal gazettement process to change The Equitable Party (TEP) to Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM).

In a letter dated October 13, 2026, Registrar of Political Parties John Lorionokou said the office had reviewed the party’s submitted documents supporting the proposed name change and had commenced the gazettement process under Section 20(1)(d) of the Political Parties Act.

The documents were submitted through a letter dated October 8, 2026, and included a resolution by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) approving the change of name.
