The Linda Mwananchi movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna continued its political tour of Homa Bay County on Sunday, with the team holding a rally in Nyandiwa, Suba South Constituency.
Sifuna was accompanied by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, among other leaders.

Residents in Nyandiwa turned up for the rally, bringing activity in parts of the town to a standstill as the leaders addressed the gathering.
Sifuna thanked residents for welcoming the movement and said the leaders would return to the area.The rally came against a backdrop of heightened political tension in parts of Homa Bay, with security officers deployed along routes used by the leaders’ convoy.
Earlier in the day, reports indicated that stones had been placed across some roads leading to Homa Bay town, affecting movement in the area.
Tension was also reported in Ndhiwa, where police used tear gas to disperse groups of youths who reportedly confronted the convoy and threw stones at vehicles.
The confrontation temporarily disrupted the movement of the convoy as police officers moved to clear the roads and restore order.
Despite the incidents, the Linda Mwananchi team proceeded with its programme in Homa Bay, with rallies planned in Nyandiwa and Sindo.
The developments come as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election. The Linda Mwananchi faction has previously faced disruptions during some of its rallies, including a tear-gas incident at a rally in Kakamega in February.
The movement has also been at the centre of political divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement, with rival factions taking different positions on the party’s political direction ahead of the 2027 polls.
