Grade 7 Learner Accused of Attacking Elder Brother in Inheritance Dispute

Police in Uriri Sub-County, Migori County, are investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old Grade 7 learner allegedly attacked his 23-year-old elder brother following a family dispute over their late or widowed mother’s inheritance.

According to reports, the teenager allegedly attacked his elder brother with a panga after disagreements emerged over their mother’s decision to have her property inherited.

The 23-year-old reportedly opposed the inheritance arrangement before the dispute escalated into violence. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Migori Referral Hospital for treatment.

Police have launched investigations into the incident as efforts continue to establish what led to the confrontation.

Local authorities have urged families involved in inheritance disputes to seek peaceful ways of resolving disagreements and to discuss property matters openly to prevent conflicts from escalating into violence.
