Kikuyu gospel musician and social media influencer Karangu Muraya is mourning the death of his brother, Joshua Muraya Kagema, just a day after publicly asking Kenyans to pray for his recovery.
Muraya announced the heartbreaking news through a social media post, revealing that his brother had died after being admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
The announcement came a day after he appealed to his followers to pray for Kagema, expressing hope that he would recover from his illness.
In the post announcing the death, Muraya said the loss had left him heartbroken and struggling to accept what had happened.
“You promised not to disappoint me, but you have done it, bro,” Muraya wrote, expressing his grief over his brother’s passing.

He also revealed that one of the last things his brother told him was,
“Karangu witu, Ngai akwongerere nyingi,” a Kikuyu blessing wishing him God’s abundant blessings.
Muraya shared the words to remember the final message his brother left him before his death.
The gospel musician said the sudden loss had left him emotionally overwhelmed and admitted that he was struggling to find the strength to inform their mother about the tragedy.
“I don’t know what to tell mum,” he wrote, highlighting the pain and shock the family is experiencing following Kagema’s death.
Muraya further described the situation as overwhelming, saying the events had unfolded so quickly that he was still trying to process the loss.
“Dear Lord, this is too much for me,” he wrote.
The musician’s announcement came less than 24 hours after he had appealed for prayers for his brother, saying he believed the ICU bed would not be his final destination.

However, the family’s hopes for his recovery were cut short by the tragic news of his death.Muraya did not disclose the cause of Joshua Muraya Kagema’s death or provide details about the illness that led to his admission to the ICU.
