𝐒𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐮 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 ‘𝐌𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐳𝐮𝐫𝐢’ 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐌𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is attempting to learn the Meru version of his popular “Mnaniona Vizuri” catchphrase ahead of the Linda Mwananchi movement’s planned rally in Meru on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Sifuna made the light-hearted remarks while inviting residents and supporters to attend the movement’s meeting, which is part of its ongoing grassroots mobilisation across the country.

The senator acknowledged that he was still struggling to pronounce the phrase in Kimeru, saying he hoped to master it before the Meru visit.

“Kuna jamaa hapa anajaribu kunifundisha ‘mnaniona vizuri’ kwa Kimeru lakini najiumauma,” he said

referring to his difficulty in learning the expression in the local dialect.

“Mnaniona Vizuri?” has become one of Sifuna’s well-known expressions at political rallies and public meetings, where he often delivers it with enthusiasm.

The Linda Mwananchi movement confirmed Meru as its next major stop on August 30, following its recent tour of Homa Bay County. Reports from the Homa Bay visit said the tour was disrupted by violence, with two people reported dead and property damaged.

Sifuna, however, clarified that Sunday’s engagement will mainly focus on Meru town rather than the entire county.

“I want to invite you to our meeting in Meru. I know there is a lot of interest, and many people want us to tour the whole of Meru, but, you know, Meru is very big,” he said.

He assured residents that the August 30 meeting would be the beginning of further engagements with the county and not the movement’s only visit.

“This is just our first meeting. It does not mean that we won’t go back there over and over again,” he said.

Sifuna said the movement would require more time to reach different parts of the county and urged residents not to feel excluded if their areas are not visited during the initial tour.

“We want to come and talk to you, and we will definitely return to visit all parts of Meru. Nobody should feel pressured or worry that we will not reach their area. We simply need more than one day to make a substantive visit across the county,” he said.

The senator also called on residents who can make it to Meru town or join the planned stops along the route to attend and interact with the movement’s leaders.

The Meru visit is part of Linda Mwananchi’s wider grassroots mobilisation campaign as political activity builds ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has also welcomed the movement’s planned visit and called for a peaceful tour.

She has been publicly associated with the movement and its activities in the region.

With the Meru rally scheduled for Sunday, attention is now turning to Sifuna’s promised attempt to deliver his signature catchphrase in the local language as Linda Mwananchi seeks to strengthen its presence in the region.
