“𝐇𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝”: 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐣𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐛

Citizen TV journalist and Nyakach parliamentary aspirant Trevor Ombija has claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua sought his dismissal from Royal Media Services (RMS) following a heated television interview in March 2026.

Ombija made the allegation on Friday, September 18, while addressing residents in Nyakach as he campaigns for the parliamentary seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to Ombija, Gachagua contacted RMS management after the two clashed during the interview and pushed for his removal from the media company.

“As I stand here to address you, the former Deputy President Gachagua once called for my dismissal from work because we confronted each other,” Ombija said.

The journalist also alleged that his ethnic background was brought into the dispute surrounding his position at RMS.

However, the claim that Gachagua contacted the media company’s management to seek Ombija’s dismissal could not be independently verified.

Neither Gachagua nor RMS had publicly responded to the allegation by the time of publication.

The allegation comes months after a tense interview between Ombija and Gachagua in March 2026.

During the exchange, Gachagua accused the journalist of bias and unprofessional conduct, arguing that the questions were unfairly framed.

“Trevor, you have been very biased in this show, which has been very unprofessional,” Gachagua said during the interview.

Gachagua also questioned why he had been invited to what he referred to as a “tribal show” while responding to questions concerning allegations of tribalism.

Ombija, however, maintained that Gachagua had requested the interview. The former Deputy President later criticised Ombija and other Ramogi TV presenters over the interview.

Ombija joined Royal Media Services in 2018 after working at Nation Media Group and has been associated with Citizen TV and Ramogi TV.

The journalist has since entered active politics and is seeking to contest the Nyakach parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.

He has also publicly declared his support for President William Ruto and the broad-based government, saying he believes in the President’s agenda for the country.

Recent reports have also linked him to Ruto’s political movement ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ombija’s political ambitions mark a shift from his broadcasting career to elective politics, as he begins campaigning for the Nyakach parliamentary seat.
