Former Citizen TV journalist Willis Raburu sustained minor injuries after he was involved in a road accident while accompanying the Linda Mwananchi campaign trail in Trans Nzoia County.
A video circulating on social media shows Raburu explaining that the accident happened after he was left behind by the main campaign convoy and was riding on a motorcycle to catch up with the team.

According to Raburu, a vehicle hit the motorcycle and knocked him to the ground before the driver sped away without stopping.
Despite the incident, Raburu said he only suffered minor bruises on his hands and feet and continued following the convoy.
“Some random car hit me on the road. Campaign trails can be intense. I fell and got some bruises, but I’m okay nonetheless. Nothing can stop a movement whose time has come! Caught up to the caravan, and we kept it 100 per cent,”
Raburu said.Raburu also explained that he had been trying to rejoin the rest of the campaign team, adding that the master of ceremonies and the crew carrying the public address system had also been left behind.
“I was left behind by campaign cars. I am on a motorbike. I was hit by a car and fell. We are chasing the convoy. The MC is behind with a microphone, but we will reach them. I suffered slight injuries, nothing much. Those are the rules of war,” he said.
The accident adds to a series of road incidents reported during the Linda Mwananchi campaign in recent weeks, raising concerns about the safety of campaign teams and supporters.
Earlier the same day, a Toyota Prado linked to a Linda Mwananchi aspirant overturned along the SibangaโKitale road in Trans Nzoia County during a political tour.Witnesses said the vehicle was travelling at high speed before the driver lost control. They also claimed that at least four supporters had been hanging onto the sides of the vehicle before it rolled over.
Several people were injured in the crash, with three reported to be in critical condition. Movement figure Abigael Gikonyo said no deaths were recorded.
Senior leaders travelling in separate vehicles, including Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino, were not involved in the accident and continued with the day’s campaign activities.
The latest incidents come weeks after an escort vehicle in William Ruto’s motorcade was involved in a road accident along the EmbuโMeru Highway in Embu County.The escort vehicle collided with a lorry at Mutunduri as the President travelled to a church service, leaving several members of his security team injured.
